Service A/C, water lines for winter
Now that we’ve had a hard freeze, it’s time to shut down your outside water lines and your air conditioner for the winter.
Shut off the circuit breaker to your air conditioning unit over the winter to save energy and money. “Most people don’t realize that their central air conditioner may actually have a heater that stays on all winter long” according to Grimsby Power. “When the air conditioner is switched off at the breaker or fuse panel, it can reduce your energy bill.”
Cover your air conditioning unit to keep out leaves, debris and snow over the winter. This will help it run better next spring.
Remember to drain the water from your sprinkler lines, and disconnect your hoses from the hose bibs. This will keep water from freezing and bursting pipes, and protect both the interior and exterior of your home.
