Quote of the day: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” (Ghandi)
At AmeriSpec, part of our every day mission beyond providing home inspections and radon testing is to be a partner in the community. Finding ways to make the place we live a little better by supporting various organizations, fundraising events and local affiliates to strengthen our community. It’s part of the AmeriSpec difference that separates our company from the rest. With that said, we’d like to start recognizing those we see doing the same: Paying it forward.
This month goes to an individual in the real estate industry who’s drive is working FOR the people to educate, improve quality of life, inspire, and provide the foundation for a stronger community, outside of real estate. If we think about it, the community we live in is a big part of how our quality of life is impacted. What you put into it is what will come out of it, right? So, let’s introduce our first highlighted heavy hitter who is inspired to support and contribute to a better ‘home’ = our community.
Real Estate Agent Defined as: Licensed professionals who represent buyers and sellers in real estate transactions. Usually work completely on commission and paid once the transaction is closed.
Chris Colemans’ face isn’t one you’ll see plastered all over the pages of the real estate section in your local paper. He’s a humble, ‘do good things for others’ type of guy. He’s a guy invested in his community, making a positive impact on those around him one day at a time. Chris decided to get his real estate license because he wanted to make a difference in the buying/selling experience. He started his ditch the rent program and is currently C/O member of The Impact Group @ Platinum Realty, where their focus is on the stories that make the memories for each client’s transaction. Chris and his team believe in giving back to what the people of the community care about and connecting people together on a deeper level. He realized there is so much more involved than just the sales portion. His mission was to extend beyond the sales and provide an experience with more depth and more of a lasting, positive impact. So, what does this look like?
One of his greatest passions is community awareness. Get to know the people impacting your community. Who are the people providing services, inspiring and working with our children, what local chapters or key people are creating programs to generate and strengthen a sense of pride in the community? With so many online resources and reviews these days, it’s ‘click and pick’ based on who has the prettiest site or best / worst reviews and can we even confidently assume the reviews we’re reading are authentic or the advertising we’re seeing is honest and sincere. Have you ever wondered who your community service providers really are? Chris decided to help answer this by creating a local podcast: The Papillion-LaVista Advice Givers Podcast, where they interview local business owners, entrepreneurs and thought leaders to bring advice and stories from his guests to the community. This platform allows listeners to develop an understanding of a local business owner or community leader’s thoughts, actions, morals, achievements and goals even their response to specific questions or comments based on local community feedback, connecting on a deeper level thru affinity of the minds. Through this process Chris continues to develop new and exciting ways to empower the community with valuable knowledge, resources and locally beneficial programs. For instance, his “Teachers only” program recognizes the value of educators and gives back to the community by donating $250 from every transaction for a teacher to the school or school related charity of that teacher’s choice. ” I decided to do that because I think mentoring and the influence you can have on other people is greater than any gift of money you can receive, so that was the career field I chose to give back to” explains Coleman.
Community is a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. It takes a tremendous amount of passion, time, resources and strong dedication to create a forum where that feeling of fellowship with others can be initiated and further cultivated with the community’s best interest in mind. We are thrilled to know Chris Coleman and honor his efforts to bring more to the local community. Connecting with the community, listening for feedback based on local collaboration and helping facilitate it. Investing in a home is a big deal. Investing in the community you live in by paying it forward is something to enjoy for many generations to come. Check out his podcast to learn more of the innovative ways to make a difference in the community. You can subscribe to the podcast through Apple Podcast/itunes, Android or Stitcher.
Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for their community in Omaha, Lincoln, Council Bluffs or surrounding area? Send us their story, we’d love to feature them on next month’s People paying it forward in Nebraska and Iowa.
